Lixin Wang, MD, PhD

Researcher, Vatche and Tamar Manoukian Division of Digestive Diseases, Department of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA

Dr. Wang studies both central and peripheral nervous pathways involved in regulation of GI functions and the mechanisms that can influence different components in those pathways in adaptation to stress, diseases and weight loss. Specifically, she is examining anatomical and molecular aspects of the CRF family of peptides and receptors in relationship to their regulatory effects on GI functions in response to stress and inflammation. She is also studying the effect of ghrelin on food intake and gastric motility, the regulation of its levels in circulation and stomach and the pathways from the periphery to the brain.
